The Lover

Purple shadows lengthen into night

transporting me to adventures

of delight.

Twas then I encountered my other

perfect half,

someone to share a cry

or laugh.

We walked hand in hand

through halls of gold

and silver domes,

straightening the other’s hair

with tortoiseshell combs.

I turned and lost myself within

the face,

features, eyes of liquid

nothing could replace.

He touched my shoulder,

sending hottest fire filling

me with acute desire.

His velvet breath upon my cheek,

my whole self  being weak

against me murmuring

“My love;”

we watched the twinkling stars above.

Awaking, I found on the pillow next to mine

that same face divine.

Firefly Dream

In the blue and crimson twilight,

becoming slowly, deep the night.

Fairies became souls

of fireflies and shed their disguise.

Hovering round with gossamer wing,

they gathered to crown the Queen and King.

Led me to a lake of water clear,

upon the shore a herd of deer.

We ate the freshest fruits

And drank of goblets crystal and gold

toasting each other as the knights of old.

All this time there were no fears;

then I awakened to find my face and pillow

 wet with tears.
